'Spider-Man' to have a fourth installment

The film "Spider-Man 4," starring Tom Holland, is set to release on July 24, 2026. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie will follow "Avengers: Doomsday," which premieres two months earlier. Tom Holland revealed on "The Tonight Show" that filming will begin in mid-2025, expressing excitement for the project. He also mentioned that while the script is ready, some revisions are needed. The production faces challenges in aligning with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline.

It is unclear if Zendaya will return as Michelle Jones. Holland previously played Peter Parker in three films directed by Jon Watts, who will be replaced by Cretton for the upcoming installment. Cretton, known for directing "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" (2021), is also working on "Wonder Man" and the sequel to "Shang-Chi."

"Spider-Man 4" is a top priority for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, who have collaborated on the Spider-Man franchise since 2015. Despite a brief dispute in 2019 over Spider-Man’s future in the MCU, the two studios reached a new agreement, leading to the crossover event in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which featured previous Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. The global box office for Spider-Man films since 2002 has reached nearly $9 billion.
