Biden Stays Optimistic Following Metastatic Cancer Diagnosis

Former President Joe Biden broke his silence for the first time since revealing he has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer, saying he remains hopeful about his treatment and prognosis.

“The outlook is still good. We’re going through treatment. Things are moving in the right direction. So, I feel okay,” Biden said after an event in Delaware.

It marked his first public remarks since being diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has since spread to his bones.

The former president said he has chosen a treatment plan and is confident in his ability to beat the disease. He emphasized that the cancer has not reached any major organs and that his bones remain strong.

“We’re optimistic. In fact, one of the world’s leading surgeons is treating me,” Biden noted.

He also stood firm on his decision to run for a second term, adding that critics within the Democratic Party had considered challenging him but ultimately backed down “because they knew they’d lose.”

Earlier this month, Biden’s office announced that doctors had discovered a tumor on his prostate during a recent medical exam. He had been experiencing worsening urinary symptoms in recent weeks. A spokesperson said Biden had not undergone a prostate cancer screening in over 11 years, which is why the diagnosis came as a surprise.

Some current officials—including President Donald Trump—have questioned the timing of the announcement, suggesting Biden may have known about his condition earlier.
