Billionaire Elon Musk has donated an additional $44 million to the pro-Trump super PAC, America PAC, less than two weeks before the presidential election.
According to filings with the Federal Election Commission on October 24, America PAC, which supports former President Donald Trump, received the donation from Musk in the first half of October. The PAC focuses on mobilizing voters in battleground states and has spent over $47 million during this period. Previously, Musk donated $75 million to the PAC between July and September.
Musk’s contributions make him a major Republican donor, alongside Timothy Mellon and Miriam Adelson. He also invested $2.3 million in Sentinel Action Fund, another conservative super PAC. Trump’s campaign, which relies heavily on outside groups like America PAC for voter outreach, sees the PAC as vital in the competition against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump’s campaign raised $16 million and spent over $88 million on ads in early October, leaving $36 million for the final stretch. Meanwhile, Harris's campaign raised $97 million and spent $130 million on ads, with $119 million remaining in their budget.
Last week, Musk launched a $1 million daily prize giveaway for voters in battleground states who sign a petition supporting free speech and gun rights. The Department of Justice has warned America PAC that this giveaway could violate federal law.
