Elon Musk has been summoned to a court hearing in Philadelphia on October 31 regarding a lawsuit over his $1 million daily voter reward program.
Judge Angelo Foglietta ordered Musk and all parties involved to attend the hearing, which was expedited following a lawsuit filed by the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office on October 28. The lawsuit seeks to halt Musk's initiative, which promises a $1 million prize to a randomly selected voter in Pennsylvania.
District Attorney Larry Krasner claims the program, run in collaboration with the super PAC America PAC, constitutes an "illegal lottery" designed to influence voters ahead of the presidential election. Participants must be registered voters in key battleground states and sign a petition supporting constitutional amendments on free speech and gun rights.
The lawsuit argues that only state authorities can regulate lotteries and accuses Musk’s initiative of misleading advertising, violating consumer protection laws. It demands that America PAC and Musk immediately cease the program.
Neither Musk nor America PAC has responded to the court order. Musk, who has donated nearly $120 million to America PAC, has played a key role in supporting former President Donald Trump's campaign, with Trump promising to appoint Musk as Secretary of Government Efficiency if re-elected.
