Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that Israel made a mistake by attacking Iran but advised against "overstating" the event.
"Israel's actions should not be exaggerated, but they also cannot be dismissed," Khamenei said on October 27, referring to Israel's October 26 airstrike on Iran. He described the attack as a "miscalculation" and called for a response that "demonstrates strength" while considering "the best interests of the people and the country." This signals that Iran may not retaliate harshly against Israel's raid. The strike caused "minor damage" and resulted in the deaths of four Iranian soldiers.
Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed condolences to the families of the soldiers, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to defending the nation "wisely."
On October 26, the Israeli military deployed 100 aircraft, including F-35I stealth fighters, launching missiles at around 20 military targets in Iran, including an S-300 air defense system and missile and drone facilities. Satellite images showed damage to at least two missile fuel factories.
Iran condemned the airstrikes as violations of international law but has yet to announce any countermeasures.
