Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared that Tehran will respond forcefully to attacks from Tel Aviv targeting Iran and its allied militant groups.
"The enemies, whether the U.S. or Israel, should understand that they will face a harsh retaliation for any act against Iran, the Iranian nation, and the resistance front," Khamenei stated today in Tehran while addressing a crowd of students.
His remarks referenced the “axis of resistance,” which includes groups backed by Iran, such as the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza. Khamenei honored those killed in the Israeli airstrikes on October 26, asserting that their sacrifices "will never be forgotten." He mentioned Iran's ongoing political, military, and weapons preparations but provided no specifics.
Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesman Ali Mohammad Naini echoed Khamenei's stance, warning of a "severe response" to Israel, asserting that enemies cannot act with impunity.
Israel has not commented yet. On October 26, the Israeli military launched large-scale strikes on approximately 20 Iranian military targets, claiming retaliation for an attack on Israeli territory earlier in the month. Israel warned Tehran against any countermeasures.
Iranian officials said they intercepted most of Israel's missiles and drones, but confirmed that four soldiers and one civilian were killed. On October 27, Khamenei urged the government to respond with strength but also to avoid overestimating the threat and to consider the "highest interests of the nation."
