A video captured by the United Cajun Navy (UCN) shows a dramatic waterspout from Hurricane Milton sweeping across a Florida highway near Fort Pierce on the morning of October 10th. The powerful tornado caused significant chaos, including overturning a tractor-trailer that blocked the road. The trailer’s front end was thrown onto the roadside grass, trapping the driver in the cab. UCN members and bystanders successfully rescued the driver, who is now in stable condition.
The footage, recorded from UCN’s vehicle, depicts dark skies, leaning trees, and debris flying as the waterspout strikes. It also toppled nearby power lines, creating explosions and bright flashes. The National Weather Service had issued 126 tornado warnings across Florida before Milton made landfall at Siesta Key on October 9th with winds of 193 km/h (Category 3). Milton weakened to Category 2 and then to Category 1 by the morning of October 10th. The hurricane caused at least 10 fatalities in Florida, primarily due to fallen trees and collapsed homes. Milton is the fifth hurricane to hit the United States and the third to impact Florida this year.
