Over 100 Israeli aircraft 'participate in airstrikes on Iran'

Israeli media reported that the country's air force deployed over 100 aircraft, including F-35I stealth fighters, for three waves of airstrikes against Iran. On October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale operation targeting Iranian military sites in response to Tehran's earlier ballistic missile launches. The strikes, coordinated from 1,600 km away, involved fighters, refueling planes, and reconnaissance aircraft. All planes returned safely.

According to Israeli reports, the operation targeted radar stations in Syria before hitting military sites in Tehran and Karaj. The strikes avoided nuclear and oil facilities to prevent further escalation. The IDF claimed the campaign gave Israel greater operational freedom in Iranian airspace and warned of more strikes if necessary.

Iranian state media reported that its air defenses intercepted most of the Israeli missiles, confirming limited damage at military sites in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam. While Iranian leadership has not yet announced a response, the airstrikes come amid heightened tensions in the region, following Israel's operations against Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran's missile launches.

The U.S. was notified of the strikes in advance but did not participate, with U.S. officials calling it Israel’s right to self-defense.
