Trump praised a controversial rally in New York, calling it a "love fest," and did not condemn comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s racially charged remarks during the event.
Following the October 27 rally at Madison Square Garden, many Republican allies urged Trump to apologize for divisive and offensive comments made by speakers, including Hinchcliffe's derogatory remarks about Puerto Rico and other racial groups. However, speaking in Florida on October 29, Trump defended the event, describing it as a huge success filled with "love."
Hinchcliffe’s offensive jokes sparked outrage, especially among Puerto Rican voters in key battleground states like Pennsylvania. Despite criticism, Trump downplayed the issue in interviews, refusing to distance himself from the comedian’s remarks, even though some fear the scandal could hurt his campaign in states with significant Latinx populations.
While some Puerto Rican supporters continued to back Trump, others expressed anger, feeling the rally crossed a line, with many vowing to hold him accountable on Election Day.
