Trump Team Announces Four-Day Inauguration Celebration Plan

President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration festivities will span four days, featuring fireworks, a swearing-in ceremony, galas, and a parade, according to the schedule released by the inaugural committee on January 13.

“President-elect Trump is committed to uniting the nation under his ‘Make America Great Again’ agenda, which will bring strength, security, and opportunity to America,” said Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler, co-chairs of the inaugural committee. “The 2025 inauguration will highlight Trump’s historic return to the White House and the American people’s decisive choice to restore greatness to our country.”

Kickoff with Fireworks and Celebrations

The festivities will begin on January 18 with a reception and fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. Vice President-elect JD Vance will host a private dinner for members of the new Cabinet.

On January 19, Trump will lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery before speaking at a "MAGA Victory" rally at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., styled after his campaign rallies. The band Village People will perform their hit song Y.M.C.A., a staple at Trump events.

Inauguration Day: Swearing-In and Celebrations

The January 20 schedule includes a traditional tea at the White House with outgoing President Joe Biden, the swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, a luncheon with lawmakers, a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, and three inaugural balls.

First Lady-to-be Melania Trump will join President-elect Trump for tea with the Biden family. At the swearing-in ceremony, country singer Lee Greenwood will perform as Trump steps onto the Capitol balcony to take the oath of office. Reverend Franklin Graham, son of the late evangelist Billy Graham, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York will lead the inaugural prayer.

Opera singer Christopher Macchio will perform the national anthem to close the ceremony. Macchio has previously performed at the 2024 Republican National Convention and at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump made his first public appearance after surviving an assassination attempt on July 13, 2024.

Parade and Evening Celebrations

Following the ceremony, a parade featuring 7,500 participants will march down Pennsylvania Avenue. The procession will include first responders, veterans, school marching bands, and emergency teams from Butler, Pennsylvania.

Three inaugural balls will cap the evening:

The Commander-in-Chief’s Ball, honoring military personnel.
The Freedom Ball, a celebration for Trump supporters, with a performance by the Village People.
The Starlight Ball, an exclusive event for major donors.

Trump is expected to deliver remarks at all three events.

A Day of Prayer and Side Events

On January 21, Trump’s first full day as the 47th President of the United States will begin with a national prayer service.

In addition to the official events, Washington, D.C., will host numerous unofficial gatherings and celebrations. Vice President-elect JD Vance will attend a gala organized by the conservative group Turning Point USA. Other events include the Inaugural Coronation Ball, All-American Ball, Crypto Ball, and Freedom Heritage Ball.
