Trump Warns Houthi and Iran: ‘The Real Pain Hasn’t Even Started Yet’

President Donald Trump on March 31 escalated his rhetoric against Yemen’s Houthi rebels and their Iranian backers, warning that U.S. strikes will intensify until the group stops attacking American warships in the Red Sea.

“The choice for the Houthis is clear: stop firing at U.S. Navy ships and we will stop firing at you. If not, we’re just getting started — the real pain hasn’t even begun, for both the Houthis and their sponsors in Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He claimed the Houthis have already suffered “devastating” losses from what he described as “nonstop” U.S. airstrikes since March 15, adding, “We are hitting them day and night, with increasing force.”

“Our attacks will continue until they are no longer a threat to freedom of navigation,” Trump said.

Shortly after the statement, Houthi officials reported that U.S. warplanes had conducted two new airstrikes on Kamaran Island off the coast of Yemen’s Hodeida province in the Red Sea.

This marks the latest escalation in a campaign of sustained airstrikes launched by the U.S. military last month, the first major military operation ordered by President Trump in his second term.

The air campaign came in response to repeated Houthi missile and drone attacks on U.S. Navy vessels and commercial ships in the Red Sea — operations the group says are meant to show solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.

Backed by Iran, the Houthis are part of what they call the “Axis of Resistance,” a regional alliance of anti-Western, anti-Israel groups that also includes Hamas and Hezbollah.

Trump’s warning follows his recent threats to launch unprecedented bombing raids on Iran if Tehran fails to agree to a new nuclear deal. Tensions between Washington and Tehran have been steadily rising, with Trump adopting an increasingly hardline stance in recent weeks.
