Trump Welcomes Pope Leo XIV’s Brother to the White House

President Donald Trump hosted Louis Prevost—the older brother of Pope Leo XIV—at the White House this week, highlighting the family’s personal connection and shared political values.

A photo shared on May 20 by senior presidential aide Margo Martin shows Trump posing in the Oval Office with 73-year-old Louis Prevost and his wife Deborah, both smiling behind the president. Vice President JD Vance also appears in the photo.

“A wonderful meeting between President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Pope Leo XIV’s brother, Louis Prevost, and his wife,” Martin captioned the post on X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking to reporters at the Capitol earlier that day, Trump praised Louis Prevost, a Florida resident, as a strong supporter of both him and the “Make America Great Again” movement.

“I like the Pope and I like his brother,” Trump said. “I’m looking forward to welcoming Louis Prevost to the White House—to shake his hand and give him a big hug.”

Vice President Vance attended Pope Leo XIV’s installation Mass at the Vatican on May 18. Born Robert Francis Prevost, the new Pope grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Louis Prevost sat near Second Lady Usha Vance during the ceremony.

On May 19, Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio held their first official meeting with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican. During the visit, Vance delivered a gift and extended a formal invitation from President Trump for the Pope to visit the United States.

Louis Prevost has previously shared Facebook posts praising the Trump administration and criticizing Democrats and Trump opponents. He has also voiced support for Elon Musk’s Government Performance Board initiative.

Shortly after his brother was elected Pope, Louis made his social media accounts private. “Maybe I’ll tone things down a bit,” he said in a May 19 interview.
