Trump: U.S. Will Take Over and Rebuild Gaza

President Donald Trump announced that the United States will take control of Gaza, rebuild it, and create massive job opportunities across the Middle East.

"We will take Gaza—there’s nothing to buy because there’s nothing left. It’s a war-torn land. We will take over, control it, and cherish it. Then, we will help it grow and create countless jobs for the people of the Middle East," Trump said during a White House meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II on February 11.

Trump asserted that U.S. control over Gaza would bring peace to the region and expressed confidence in reaching an agreement with Jordan and Egypt to establish new settlements for displaced Gazans, allowing them to live in safety and prosperity.

When asked whether Washington would threaten to cut aid if Jordan rejected the plan, Trump dismissed the idea, saying "We are bigger than that", but noted that the U.S. has provided significant financial assistance to Jordan and Egypt over the years.

Jordan’s Response: Gaza Must Remain Palestinian

King Abdullah II firmly rejected any plan that would force Palestinians to leave Gaza, calling it "the unified stance of the Arab world."

"Any reconstruction efforts must be carried out without displacing Palestinians," the Jordanian king declared, emphasizing that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza must be addressed first.

During the joint press conference, Trump repeatedly pushed the idea that Jordan should accept more Palestinian refugees. The Jordanian king avoided committing to the proposal but stated that Jordan would welcome around 2,000 children from Gaza for humanitarian care.

King Abdullah II became the first Arab leader to meet with Trump since the "U.S. Takeover of Gaza" plan was revealed. Although the meeting was cordial, Trump’s public statements put the Jordanian leader in a difficult position.

Regional Implications and Potential Backlash

Jordan, a country of 11 million people, already hosts over 2 million Palestinian refugees. Absorbing more could destabilize the country, especially as Trump has frozen U.S. foreign aid for 90 days, blocking Jordan’s annual $1.45 billion in assistance.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry also responded swiftly, stating that it would present an alternative proposal to the U.S.

"Our top priority is ensuring that Palestinians remain in their homeland," Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said. "We hope to work with the Trump administration to achieve a just resolution to the Palestinian issue."

The "U.S. Gaza Takeover Plan" is expected to spark major international debate, with Arab nations likely to push back against any proposal that involves forced displacement of Palestinians.
