Ukrainian President: 2025 Will Be the Decisive Year in the Conflict

President Zelensky addressed parliament, asserting that 2025 will be a decisive year in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and emphasizing that Ukraine will not make concessions.

"Critical moments will come next year. We must not allow anyone in the world to doubt Ukraine’s resilience. This period will also determine which side prevails," President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on November 19.

According to Zelensky, the Russia-Ukraine conflict extends beyond hotspots such as Pokrovsk and Kupyansk or provincial boundaries; it spans all of Ukraine and even Europe.

"This conflict will decide whether the world remains chaotic or returns to order, as well as Ukraine’s fate. No one can make this choice for us," Zelensky declared. His remarks come amid concerns that the U.S. might pressure Ukraine to make territorial concessions after President-elect Donald Trump indicated his intention to quickly negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

On November 19, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged allies to increase military aid to "achieve a sustainable end to the conflict" and stressed that Ukraine "will never bow to Russia."

"We need peace through strength, not through concessions," the ministry said, addressing growing calls for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia to end the hostilities.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated the same day that he could not predict when the military operation would end. "The only thing I can say for sure is that it will conclude once we achieve our objectives," Peskov noted.

In June, President Putin reiterated Russia's conditions for ending the conflict, which include Ukraine abandoning its NATO ambitions and withdrawing all troops from the four regions that Russia claims to have annexed.
